Well there's a long hard manual method to exactly and equally dispose icons in panel, not just using the eye-method:
Save your panel.
Go to
> usr/share/mate-panel/layout
and find yourpanel.panel and yourpanel.layout
Back them up.
Inside both files, find the name of every icon and position (ex. 125).
Go increasing this value on every next nearly icon (ex. +20= position 145).
After that, save both files with changes.
Reboot.
It's not an automatic fast method, but is exact and precise.
