Beagle bone Install Ubuntu Mate

Hello everyone, I want to install Ubuntu Mate on Beagle Bone, but it fails. Does anyone know how to install Ubuntu Mate on Beagle Bone?

Or maybe Beagle Bone can only install a specific version of Ubuntu Mate?

Thanks

Hi, @TYTN and welcome to the Ubuntu MATE Community!

Could you please share more details about the fail. When it fail, what error messages, how did you try... Share pictures to help us.

According to their site, there are 3 different product configurations which are "Beagle Bone". Which one are you using?

Also, please provide the result of

inxi -F -xxx

from the Live UM, so we can see what it is reporting for what it is detecting.

Depending on how new the Product Model is, the component interaction protocols or recognition strings may not be uploaded to the Linux component recognition database and, therefore, you may have to "forcibly" tell grub what it is dealing with, but I myself don't know how to do that for what you have.

There was no error message. It just couldn't read the sd card with Ubuntu Mate installed, and then started the Ubuntu system originally built into the BeagleBone Black industrial.

I am using BeagleBone Black industrial. However, when I use [inxi -F], it cannot be used because inxi is not installed. I have tried to install inxi but failed. When installing, it says [Err:21 Index of /debian buster/main armhf libdrm-nouveau2 armhf 2.] and other similar messages, and the same thing happened even after using [sudo apt-get update] [sudo apt-get upgrade]. Maybe the version of Ubuntu I'm using is not new enough (I'm using the Ubuntu version released in 2020)

If you run the live distro (don't try to use installed image), you can open a terminal and enter the command

apt-get install inxi

That will install into the memory-loaded Live OS for usage, so that you can perform the probe.

As people have repeatedly said elsewhere, if you can get the Live UbuntuMATE working properly, then you should be able to get the UbuntuMATE installed. So its a matter of getting to know what needs to be documented in the parameters for the file "/etc/default/grub" on the installed system, so that boot will know what to do.

P.S. the version of OS is not likely to impact the running of inxi, because it is a HUGE bash script.
