I uninstalled Libreoffice through synaptic package manager because the file menu was no longer showing above the icons. I tried reinstalling through Synaptic but the packages don’t seem to install. They indicate installed but there is no libreoffice parts in the apps menu. Synaptics Package manager shows they are installed but they aren’t. I tried downloading the Deb. zip file and going that route, but I am not experienced enough to figure that out. What are the suggestions on best way to install libreoffice. I would really like the 25.8.1.1 version.
Also I can’t seem to delete it all. When I install Librewriter from the software boutique, the menu configuration is how I last left it, not like a fresh install.
You need to be sure that any vestige of the existing LibreOffice installation are purged, before doing a re-install.
apt purge libreoffice
apt install libreoffice
That will not purge any User's personal customizations that are stored under the ${HOME} directory.
If that doesn't do it, then maybe use the following command to identify all packages that need to be purged,
dpkg --get-selections | grep '^libreoffice' | awk '{ if( $2 == "install" ){ print $0 } ; }'
then perform the re-install of all the packages you want, starting with the simple
apt install libreoffice
and, only after that, verify which other packages you want installed.

Thanks. How do I delete personal customizations under ${HOME}?
rm -rf ~/.config/libreoffice
(if it’s an older install it could just be .libreoffice)
sudo snap remove libreoffice
(just in case)
