Brighness & keboard light at max upon restart

Hi all

I have a problem on both Mate 1.14 and Mate 1.16 on all distributions. Hardware: Lenovo Thinkpad 460, Skylake with Intel graphics

I would really like to use Ubuntu Mate but I have no solution to make this workable. I have also logged a bug but I don’t think anyone is looking at it.

  • default screen brightness is on max
  • keyboard light comes on at max with
  • manually adjusting the brightness and switching keyboard light off does not get rememberd upon reboot

Please please help me find a workaround

Thank you so much for being the only person here that gave some help. To be honest I had given up on Mate desktop due to this bug on all distros. Will give this one last try.
