Hi, @CyberMaxpower (Matt)
I've searched for the text of the error message that appeared in your screenshot:
The panel encountered a problem while loading "BriskMenuFactory::BriskMenu"
... and I've found the following bug / issue in Launchpad ("Bug #1757072 new session brings: "The panel encountered a problem while loading "BriskMenuFactory::BriskMenu"."), reported by noergeljoerg on 20th march 2018:
Currently (28th November 2022), the latest activity in that bug web page is the following comment posted by @Wimpy (Martin Wimpress) himself, on 6th April 2022:
Comment #16 : Bug #1757072 : Bugs : brisk-menu package : Ubuntu

Fixed via brisk-menu 0.6.2-1ubuntu0
no longer affects: ubuntu-mate Changed in brisk-menu (Ubuntu): status: Confirmed → Fix Released
I've checked that version (0.6.2-1ubuntu0) of the "mate-applet-brisk-menu" package is the same version that is installed in my "Ubuntu MATE 22.04.1 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish)" installation, like it is in your case (@CyberMaxpower ):
$ dpkg --list | grep -i 'brisk-menu'
ii mate-applet-brisk-menu 0.6.2-1ubuntu0 amd64 Solus Project's Brisk Menu MATE Panel Applet
As you (@CyberMaxpower) mention that you're still getting this bug using the "brisk-menu" version "0.6.2-1ubuntu0" (in Ubuntu 22.04 MATE) that had supposedly fixed that bug, I suggest that you add a comment in that [Bug #1757072 new session brings: "The panel encountered a problem while loading "BriskMenuFactory::BriskMenu"." in Launchpad) with that information and mark that bug as also affecting you.
I hope this helps , at least somewhat
