BrotherMFC-J6530DW printer set as default but nothing changed.
Now I do the other test.
The cupsd.conf file contains 4 times the configuration you indicated to me but they are all correctly set to default.

Sorry to neglect this thread for so long, but I was on an extended vacation abroad, with very sketchy internet.

I don't have many more ideas, but could you check whether you have ipp-usb installed?

If not, this snap may help: Install ipp-usb on Linux | Snap Store

Read the instructions carefully. You may have to uninstall the Brother driver to try this snap.

When I installed my Brother printer using the installation tool from the Brother website, it worked flawlessly, except that it chose a URI that would not work.

cd Downloads
sudo bash linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.1-1
model no. MFC-J480DW
Will you specify the Device URI? [Y/n] ->n
Test Print? [y/N] ->y

Here are the instructions i found online for installing a Brother printer. It says to chose "no" when asked to specify a URI. I was having the same trouble when I choose Yes, but after choosing No every installation has worked. Not sure if that is the problem, but if you are choosing yes, give no a try.
