Browser Plugin not available in Firefox

OS: Ubuntu 16.04.02
Hardware: Raspberry Pi 3
Installed: browser-plugin-vlc
I cannot enable this plugin for video playback on Firefox/Chromium.

Any clues?

I noticed that VLC enable hardware accelerated video playback. Just wondering if Firefox can play the Full HD video if vlc plugin is properly run.

I do not use this plugin but I have read that support for NPAPI is no longer supported in Chromium and for Firefox:

Firefox joins other modern browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge to remove support for these NPAPI plugins.
