Hi. When trying to open Caja, I get a warning about something being deprecated:
anthony@anthony-OptiPlex-9010:~$ caja
(caja:218190): Gtk-WARNING **: 10:36:09.342: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:3932:55: Using one color stop with linear-gradient() is deprecated.
anthony@anthony-OptiPlex-9010:~$
I tried purging and reinstalling caja, but I still get the same message. Thanks.Preformatted text
Hmm have you maybe tried using a different theme since it indicates linear-gradient is deprecated it might be something with GTK theme so maybe try and see if it will work with something different
I'd suggest try and see if some packages are deprecated somewhere and if not then I would suggest to try and switch to a default theme and see if it results in the exact error
I don't really know much about GTK so it may not be of any use but I am sure somebody more experienced than I will know of a solution if this doesn't work
Hi. My mistake--Caja is fine and the reason it didn't appear on click was that it was busy copying files in the background; there was no indicator in the dock--the only reason I know it was copying is that before restarting I was told. I have nothing I want to copy, so don't know why it was doing that. Thanks, and sorry.

@Alarik is pretty much right — it's just a warning caused by the GTK theme. It wouldn't stop Caja from working.
Some day in the future, that deprecation could become an error, and theoretically breaks in a future OS update if it wasn't addressed... then again, it might be a harmless gradient. What theme do you use?
Glad it was a false alarm and Caja was working all along!
Hi. I really like being able to make my computer look any way I want very quickly (Mate Tweak, Look and Feel in Control Center--which means themes, Window border, pointer, icons). I'm going to screenshot some different looks--I guess I just get bored with the similar looks; Windows '95 had the same look until Windows 8 (dl'd the Iso).
Sorry I didn't answer your question directly--right now, the theme I'm using is Juno Palelight; I also have Material Blackberry, Cherry, and Blueberrywith another being called Kripton. UM makes getting themes easy, with a link to dl on the Look and Feel page, and the OS also has a tool to directly install the theme.
Just wondering: If there were issues with the theme, it could be worth raising a bug report to the theme developer so they can fix it. Although, said deprecation probably won't be a problem for a long time (say, 24.04 → 26.04)
