Hi!!
After migrating to Ubuntu Mate there is only one thing that really miss, a good calendar app with support for web calendars like Google Calendar. I know that Thunderbird or Evolution can do such work, but the idea is to have a calendar as a standalone app. In addition, they are heavy apps, Thunderbird with 5 accounts and without calendar uses more than 200 mb of RAM.
I’ve installed California, a really good looking calendar but has a problem with the App password generation authentication mechanism because Google deprecated it in favor to oauth2. I’ve also installed Gnome Calendar with a bunch of dependencies needed for running Gnome Online Accounts, but neither worked, I couldn’t sign in my Google account.
My suggestion is to adopt/fork/port (I’m not sure about the technical and exact definition) California calendar and make it work with online calendars, perhaps it’s the easiest way. Written in Vala, is very light. Gnome Calendar is the other option but needs near from 40mb of dependencies.
Well, that’s only my thoughts…
Thank you very much and best regards!!
