How do I know it is running? There are directories with the files.
Ok. Will have a cup of hot green tea.
You don't. Maybe use 'sudo iotop' to see if any diskactivity is going on.
That is a good thing.
2.3 gigs in under a minute.
38MB/s, that is pretty nice.
how much GB do you have to copy in total ?
OK I will have another go. maybe its not a paper jam after all.
The machine does not print?
If you turn off the device, remove the paper tray and turn it back on are the status led's any different?
If you put the paper tray back in, do you then get the error?
Many of the youtube video's about this device are paper lifting errors.
A printer needs to lift the paper once the tray is inserted otherwise you would snap off the rollers when you fill the tray with paper.
It does this one of two ways, a spring inside the paper tray that gets released when you insert the tray or a cog / gear on the tray that is driven by a motor.
If this is the problem, this video may help.
I would assume the PE sensor mentioned earlier means "paper empty" however being unfamiliar with this device I can only assume.
I just found out that it mentions a flatbed scanner.
I just have a laser black printer.
I blew it out with air. I will set it aside for a while.
The guy in the video says, "I am not going to lie to you, it ain't easy...
Some manufacturers make a printer and printer / scanner versions of the same machine look at the HPM452 and HPM477 in this case diagnosing a paper jam in the printer is the same regardless of the model.
Only you know what your printer looks like and whether the link is relevant.
If you haven't followed my advice earlier about removing the paper tray to find when the error occurs and if it does, you may be chasing the wrong fault.
That guy posting the video is an end user who can fault find, he thinks it's difficult disassembling, It's kind of him to share his knowledge.
If you cannot follow a basic fault-finding procedure from a professional printer technician like myself, then the only solution is to get a new printer.
Did you install the Brother printer drivers specific to your printer? If not d/l them from the Brother site.
Yes I did install the correct drivers.
Please try to relax.
SAME message with paper tray in or out.
(I have mentioned cognitive dysfunction quite a number of times.)
Friendly advice. When someone asks if you installed the correct driver, the answer you provided,
is not the one expected and does not help eliminate possibilities.
The person asking is usually looking for you to provide details on the specifics of
- driver version,
- URL where it was obtained from
- name of the file if assigned by the manufacturer (usually including details about version/compatibility/model, or
- a combination of all the above.
These details allow the "specialists" who actually know to perform a sanity check and confirm for themselves that the correct driver was indeed installed.
I consider many of you guys as friends.
I am not offended by honest communication.
I feel like it is a hardware issue.
I have installed CPUs, and pretty much every component in both desktop systems and laptop computers. (And those laptop computers are a "bear" to work with due to their small size.)
Should someone be offended and take it personal when I think is not a software issue ?
Is it possible to learn things from anyone?
Can someone give me the benefit of doubt ?
Is it reasonable to give me some credit for many years of computer experience?
Have a good evening.
It is 9:35 p.m. in my neighborhood.
It is, unplug the USB cable and I bet the error is still displayed and the fact the status leds remain the same whether the paper tray is installed or not indicates there is a problem with the printer.
Looking at the other leds its not just run out of toner or something as basic as that? the drum looks like it needs attention.
If the printer was working, with the device in ready state you can press the go button several times to print a config test page, but fixit7 surely knows that already.
You can if you choose to.
Thanks.
I lightly cleaned the rollers and drum.
I recently refilled the toner and bought a new cap.
That video someone posted I think has the answer, but my motor skills are not what they used to be.
I can get one side loose, but trying to get the other side loose would probably end in breakage.
I think the printer is not picking up the paper.
Take a look at the video I posted, I think it's a bit clearer of what you have to.do.
To get that left cover off, use flat blade screwdrivers or coins to lift the cover away from the tabs, it may take a bit of persuasion.
Once the cover is off, turn the printer on without the paper tray in, insert the tray, and you will find out if it's a paper lifting problem.
Look at the video at 42 seconds.
I wrote S.O.Ps for 1/2 million dollar laboratory instruments.
The pic is where I am so far.
I appreciate your enthusiasm, but if I was your instructor, I would have to give you a D.
You need to consider your audience.
I got the panel off.
The guy making the video means well, but I will give some helpful suggestions like "do not use terms such as "silver thing". I am thinking of trying cocaine.
Just kidding.
