Hello! I’m not a big fan of Linux, or Ubuntu, but today I installed Ubuntu MATE 15.10 on my old Pentium 4 HT desktop. I really enjoy Ubuntu MATE, because it’s lite, fast, and with many possibilities. So, I thought, that maybe I can install it on my GoClever Insignia 800 WIN. Tablet has a quad-core processor, with 1 GB of ram, but I think, that it should run fine. The problem is, that I don’t know, if Ubuntu MATE will install, because it has UEFI. It hasn’t an option to turn on Legacy BIOS on Insyde H20. Also, it doesn’t have VT-x. So, what do you think - Will I be able to install it on this tablet, and if I will, will it work without problems? I worried about drivers too - like sensors, touch home button, front and rear cameras. Please, leave a comment with your opinion.
The best way to test it works is by creating a Live USB/DVD and check the hardware features you use it for still work.
Undoubtedly, there may be one or two sensors that may not function properly (the auto back light sensor on my Dell Inspiron Duo doesn’t work, for example), but I would suspect cameras and hardware buttons will work, or with a bit of configuration. It varies by hardware.
Should you choose to replace or dual boot Ubuntu MATE, there will be a way to turn off “Secure Boot” as well as booting Ubuntu MATE into EFI mode, which requires the amd64 version.
