Can not print to Brother hl-2240

I have a Brother hl-2240 printer.

I am using Ubuntu-mate 16.04.

It does not print a test page or a document.

What can I check ?

if you have Synaptic installed, open it and search for “brother” and see what packages are available, mark them all if they aren’t already marked and install them!. :smiley:

To install via the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t):

sudo apt-get install synaptic

As I recall, there were a few things I had to do before installing my Brother printer, different model. On the driver download page on the Brother website, there was an easy=to-miss link to a page called something like “pre-installation requirements”. Make sure those are met, otherwise the printer will just not work. { been there :slight_smile: }

There weren’t any brother packages that applied to my case.

They had no 2240 driver, but they had 5 drivers for 2140.

I found this one that worked. :slight_smile:
