Can someone confirm these issues with Green Recorder on Ubuntu MATE?

Dear all,

Together with the developer of Green Recorder screencasting, we are currently trying to locate two problems that I am facing:

  • Missing icon in the window switch
  • Very large tray icon

He cannot confirm the problem, thus pointing me to search for the problem on the MATE side.

Therefore, I would like to know from someone of you if he or she can reproduce these problems?

This is the thread in reference: https://github.com/green-project/green-recorder/issues/25#issue-220384784

Thank you!

Robert

I can reproduce those two issues on 17.04:

Thank you for taking the time, @ouroumov!

I let the developer know.

However, I lack the deeper understanding why MATE does have these problems…

First thing to check: is /usr/share/pixmaps/green-recorder.png in place? If not, locate green-recorder.png and note the path.

Then edit /usr/share/applications/green-recorder.desktop to add the path and file extention to Icon:

Replace:

Icon=green-recorder

With:

Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/green-recorder.png

If that works, suggest the author adds path and file extention to Icon in their desktop file. Many apps that place one app icon in /usr/share/pixmaps do it that way to avoid these kind of problems (the icons should go to theme icon directories).

I think the same issue affects Clementine, so maybe Green Recorder is not at fault here:

Interesting.

So, is it a problem of the MATE panel or the indicator applet?

It’s not a problem of MATE panel. The problem had been fixed in Green Recorder.
