Cannot add Notification Area

I did something stupid, thinking that I was removing that %$&&***# battery icon telling me that I have a dead battery, when I discovered that I had removed the Notification Area. I tried to install it, and it will not install. I click “Add to panel,” and it just sits there. This is even after a reboot.

HELP!

EDIT: I do see three vertical dots, which only give an About, Remove, and Help when right-clicked. Left-clicking does nothing. I just did install last night, so that’s a resort.

What is the name of the package which includes the items to be added to the toolbar? I could purge it and reinstall it, but I don’t know the name of it.

Hi @Frederick_Wrigley, How about an easier way to start-over? I’m assuming this is the new 18.04.

Open MATE Tweak, select Panel then select “Familiar” should put it back like it started. Or select the layout you want to start with, there’s a few to choose from.

:innocent: Thanks! It worked perfectly. Gad, but I love the Linux community, 10 years in.
