Cannot find applications. Help

I changed the interface from redmond to opensuse using mate tweak and now I have no menu for options to find my applications so I can get back and change my interface back nor do I have an option to shut down or logout. This is weird. Any Ideas as how this can be fixed

In the redmond layout the menu is the tiny Ubuntu MATE circle in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Ok I went from the Redmond interface to the Ubuntu mate interface and then to the open sues looking at the different styles of Desktops. The Redmond and Ubuntu mate worked fine and had the menu button that you are describing. The open sues interface gave me no menu Icon whatsoever Just my calendar, power supply, and net work icons to the left of the screen on the tool bar and a sticky notes icon to the right on the tool bar. This is why I can not get to my applications and go to mate tweak and reset my interface to Redmond or the Ubuntu Mate interface.

Weird, must be some kind of bug. Try to open terminal (ctrl+alt+t) or tilda (F12) and run the command dconf reset -f /org/mate/panel. This will reset panel settings (it should give you the Ubuntu MATE layout). If it worked then try to change it again from MATE tweak and see if you can reproduce this, so that you can file a bug.

To open MateTweak, open a terminal

Ctrl + Alt + t

and enter:

mate-tweak

Thanks I was able to get back to the Redmond interface and the menu icon and have access to all my applications again. All is good again

If I duplicate this problem problem how would I go about filing a bug as you stated?

I am kinda new to file bugging myself so I’m not so sure (maybe someone else can help). I think that since we don’t know if it affects other distributions (in that case you should probably file the bug at github) , then the best place is launchpad. So, either at mate-tweak https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mate-tweak or at mate panel: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mate-panel (depending on which one you believe it causes the bug).

I’m late in returning to the forum but thanks for getting back with me . I think that this is a bug in mate tweak. So it should be the first link that you provided. Thanks again
