Cant get pulseaudio equalizer

I just recently installed ubuntu mate 18.04 on one of my machines. I have other machines with linux mint and linux lite, on these machines I was able to install the pulseaudio equalizer using the terminal command sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8 however on ubuntu mate it wont download the EQ. then I installed the synoptic package manager and I installed the pulseaudio equalizer but it doesnt show up anywhere except on the synoptic package manager. how do I get this EQ installed? or how can I get any good equalizer installed?? THANKS!

Mint is currently based on Ubuntu 16.04, which doesn't include pulseaudio-equalizer. This is why you need that PPA.

I'm guessing you are using 18.04? It looks like that PPA doesn't support 18.04 (Bionic) yet. You could try downloading and installing the 17.10 (Artful) package and it will probably work, but it's unsupported and could even mess up your system.

But, it looks like pulseaudio-equalizer is now in the Ubuntu repository for 17.10 and later, so on 18.04 you can just

sudo apt install pulseaudio-equalizer

Also, Ubuntu MATE includes pulsemixer (installed as a snap). I've never used either, but based on the name maybe this is a possible alternative...

THANKS for the info, I just typed in the command you poisted and here is what I get: Reading state information… Done
pulseaudio-equalizer is already the newest version (1:11.1-1ubuntu7).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded…yes I have the mate lts 18.04. I have 2 other machines with linux mint mate and xfce 18.3 on them with the pulseaudio EQ so Ill use those in my music system untill its ready for the ubuntu mate 18.04. I really love the ubuntu system more though. Thanks again for your help!.

That return would indicate that pulseaudio-equalizer is already installed.

Look for it in /usr/share/applications or try running it from the command line.

I did a search and I ran that in terminal and it doesnt show up, but the synoptic package manager says its installed, however I went to the website where the guy that created the pulseaudio EQ and he says it runs on mint 17 and 18 and ubuntu 16.10…but nothing later and he hasnt been there for a year, maybe in the future he will fix it to run on later builds, but on my mint mate 18.3 it will be supported untill 2021. strangly I got it to work on linux lite 3.8, then for the past 2 days Ive been testing the linux lite 4.0 (in beta now) and it wont add the EQ. lite 3.8 is good till 2021 also. Thanks for the help.
