I’ve used SDFormatter on this Sandisk Ultra 64GB MicroSD than used Win32 Disk Imager to write first raspbian to test how it works, boots flawlessly.
extracted .img from .img.xz using winrar
now I format MicroSD again with SDFormatter, Win32 Disk Imager the ubuntu-15.04-snappy-armhf-rpi2.img from https://ubuntu-mate.org/raspberry-pi/
rpi2 goes through boot, goes straight to this terminal;
Ubuntu 15.04 localhost.localdomain tty1
localhost login:
I have no idea what the login details are, why I get no gui, why I get no ubuntu mate installer popup like everyone else does installing ubuntu mate on youtube.
All I want to do is use chromium for (x264 streaming service + youtube)
VLC
that’s it really.
ah sorry, I had both downloaded and confused the iso names.
I used ubuntu-mate-15.04-desktop-armhf-raspberry-pi-2.img
I’ll try 15.10! thanks I’ll let you know how it goes.
only hardware as of now plugged in is HDMI, 2A 5V power brick, Logitech mk220 wireless combo, and TP-Link TL-WN722N (one of the only cheap wireless TP-Link that would plug and play on an rpi 1/2 ,on the cheapest price range in the store I goto, don’t need dual band, just need reliable cheap single band )
doing an identical setup for an RPI version B 512 for mum (except using openelec), rpi 2 is for uncle in a caravan, who loves ubuntu and linux. I’m setting this up for him and posting it off to him in a different state. I’m making it so it’s plug and play for him.
All I can really see him using it for is chromium, vlc, libreoffice, and some sort of wysiwyg editor (any recommendations for that on arm rpi 2?)
I’ve installed Ubuntu Mate 15.10 and it works great so far
The specific wifi adaptor I got works great with it, along with the Sandisk Ultra 64GB MicroSD and Logitech mk220 KB+Mouse combo.
my uncle will be pleased.
