Change default text editor from Plume to gedit

I have gedit installed but it's not available from which to choose in

preferences>personal>preferred applications

Is there another method unknown to me?

Thank you @ouroumov for your reply. After reading through the link you provided I decided to use the old “windows methodology” and reboot …Now I’m able to choose gedit as my default text editor :relaxed:
