Change order of window buttons

I am using ubuntu 20.04. I recently switched from gnome to mate display manager. I want the window close, maximize, minimize buttons to be on the left in that order. I used mate-tweaks-> Windows-> Appearance to set buttons to left. I used dconf-editor to change the button-layout to 'close, maximize, minimize:' in three different locations - marco, cinnamon, and gnome. It works for many windows, but on some apps, like dconf-editor or pdf viewer, the order comes out as close, minimize, maximize. How can I change the order for those apps where they do not appear in that order? Thank you.

Here are the instructions on changing the location of the buttons (window controls):

Thank you for your response. I have used mate-tweaks to move the buttons to the left. My issue is that in some windows the order of buttons is "close, minimize, maximize." My attempts using dconf to change the order to "close, maximize, minimize" work for some windows, like browser windows, but not others, like pdf viewer windows. I want to get them all consistent.
