Chrome shell integration not working

I have freshly installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (MATE) codename: bionic.
I run the chrome-shell-integration command as I normally have done with 17.04 and everything seems fine but I can’t get this error resolved: “Unable to locate GNOME Shell settings or version. Make sure it is installed and running.”
Any insight would be appreciated.

Ubuntu MATE doesn’t use GNOME Shell, so that error message is correct, and I don’t think that extension could do anything in MATE anyway. If you want GNOME Shell, you want the standard Ubuntu desktop release.

Ok … That makes sense to why I am getting this. I will go with the standard install. So the standard is now based on Gnome and not Unity?

Yes, starting with 17.10 and including the newest 18.04 LTS.
