Hello there!
First post ever on the community, glad to have a place to discuss this things
So, it turns out that I have an issue with my browser. It seems to be infected with an adware/malware (not quite sure) called Reimageplus.
It puts annoying, of course, ads on i.e. youtube or blocks the navigation while on a search engine.
Ive tried to find a solution, but all of them seems to be based for Windows O.S.
I’ve also installed ClamAV, but without success on solving this issue
On this link, there is a full description and tutorial on how to, regarding this adware. So you can see what Im talking about in detail.

Hope someone knows how to solve this issue.
Thanks in advance!
It will likely have been installed on the back of installing something else, from an unauthorized source. It may also come bundled with certain browser extensions. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the browser is unlikely to touch any files in your home directory, where Chrome stores your profile. Which is where the offending files may be.
From what I have read, you should just reset your browser:
Thanks for the reply!
Yeah, I’ve already done that.
I’ve even erased the browser and downloaded again.
Oddly, when Installed again, all my bookmarks and extensions were there again, I didnt needed to reinstall them.
Im assuming I might need to do a more aggressive action towards that adware.
Or in the worse case, reinstall the O.S. again…
The “funny” thing is, that after installing Ubuntu, the only thing I added to the system was the web browser (SRWare Iron) and the package for Flash Video
Okay, if you have not already done so, here is what I would do next:
Open a terminal and execute the following:
Open Caja, press “CTRL/h” and navigate to “/home/user/.config” and delete the “chromium” folder in there
Open a terminal again and execute the following:
Ok!
Well...
the commands for removing it told me that there was not Chromium Browser installed... so I skipped to removing the folder from the Home directory.
Done, when on the last step for installing it again, this message comes along:
Package chromium-browser is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra
Same message if I try to install it via the Software Boutique.
Im gonna try one last attempt by downloading the Browser from SRWare, for 64bit.
It might also be an issue caused by the extensions that I use on the browser... but thats odd, since the only things I use are addblocks and similar. Same extensions that I have on another computer.
Thanks a lot for your advices!
