I'm new to Mubuntu, but not to MATE, if hardly expert. One thing I noticed is that in the trend toward Input Method Editor named FCITX, that IBUS is not apparent as an option. I have ibus working on my DE fine, but one of the holy grails of CJK text input I have not found is how to get handwriting with Tegaki (with or without Zinnia?) working. The documentation on site is poor, at least to one who is no linux expert. The ibus addon is supposed to work, but I've never yet been able to get the Tegaki window to boot. As far as I can tell the project is moribund.
What options for handwriting CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) are there which work under MATE? I'm comfy with ibus, but would switch to fcitx if it could do text recognition. I've looked into it a bit, but found naught. Has anyone gotten something to work with Rime under ibus or fcitx?
My system is a homebrew Frankenlaptop driving an Intel Celeron N2840. It has a touchpad, which would be nice to write on.
I suspect that this forum has not much experts on the subject, if any at all. I'd suggest not to lock yourself within this forum. At least, Internet search on "Linux Chinese CJK handwriting recognition" returns enough links to hope that an answer could be found.
The site is ran by Ji m who is very knowledgeable. He has kindly answered any questions I have emailed him. I believe Ji is a Chinese citizen.

Just wanted to update this, as it could cause some confusion:
Kylin (NeoKylin and OpenKykin) and Ubuntu Kylin are to seperate projects.
A separate project using Ubuntu as the base Linux operating system was announced in 2013. The first version of Ubuntu Kylin was released in April 2013.
