Comment lines in Geany

I am trying to format lines in Geany.

I highlight what I want commented and do

Edit,Format,Comment Line

It does not work ?

@fixit7, is the language set on the file? Geany needs to know which file type you’re trying to add comments to so that it can use the right syntax.
Often the file type is shown in the status bar at the bottom. Alternatively, you can set it manually from the menu (don’t remember off the top of my head, but it might be something like Document > Document Type > Language, then choose whichever language, like C++, JavaScript, etc…)

It was Document, Set File Type, Scripting languages, and Shell script.
