Compiz Config and Ubuntu Mate

Hello dudes,

I have installed Ubuntu MATE 18.04and it looks amazing! I have two questions:

  • Can I Install Compiz Config on it ? For animated effects and graphical customization like in Gnome? will it make any software conflicts or errors?

  • And can I install screenlets/gadgets on Ubuntu MATE 18.04 ?

If yes for any question of the above, please tell me how and where to get it

Yes you can install compiz config on it, and there should be few to no problems/conflicts, besides normal compiz problems as with any other de, and yes if the screenlets are through compiz

About Compiz you can use my answer from AskUbuntu

(you need to launch mate-tweak and switch Window Manager from it to Compiz)

About screenlets - you can follow my other answer on AskUbuntu

If you need specific screenlet (for example, calendar) - use

I have Compiz installed, too, on UM 19.04.

In the next days I'll upgrade to 19.10 and then to 20.04 LTS.

I hope, it will be work again.

I need the cool desktop effects incl. Emerald theme manager and so on.
