Compiz or compiz-mate?

I realize just now that there is a package on Ubuntu repos called compiz-mate

luca@pc-sala:~$ sudo apt install compiz
compiz compiz-mate
compiz-bcop compiz-plugins
compiz-boxmenu compiz-plugins-default
compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-plugins-extra
compiz-core compiz-plugins-main
compiz-dev compiz-plugins-main-default
compiz-gnome compiz-plugins-main-dev

I use compiz since it was namend Beryl / Emerald as well as I was a GNOME lover and, since GNOME became an awful cage, I'm a MATE lover.

I wish to understand if it worth to install compiz-mate instead of compiz .
Does anyone know de differences between the two packages?

Good question.

Compiz-mate adds mate compatibility options to compiz. It is not a compiz replacement, just an add-on. You still need the compiz package.

According to the description:

This package contains files needed to integrate compiz with the MATE desktop
environment.
