Conky: use it or not ? If so, where is active community sharing/support forum?

Three questions:

[1] Is "conky" still a "go-to" for desktop display of system monitoring?

[2] If "yes", since ubuntu forums is no longer an open site for ongoing conky-related sharing, can members of the community share "good" sites where posters offer both a snapshot and the conky.conf ?

[3] Is there any "very good" documentation clearly outlining the "new" format and style of the conky.conf files, vs the "old" conkyrc file format ?

I found this, but it doesn't feel like what I am looking for. :frowning:

That's only a "gallery" for sharing.

And for those who are wild about weather, have a look at this !

I use Conky, but the last update to the code seems to be a couple years ago. I don't think it is actively being supported, but it is just easy to configure and I think it looks cool. TBH, I just use it to monitor my CPU and as a clock so to be fair, it is just pretty to look at.

Here it is in action.

I never liked Conky for some reason I can't even define. I used gkrellm for years, it has a lot of plug ins and settings including CPU temps. It is in synaptic. I don't use any desktop monitor anymore, I decided I just like a clean desktop. It has varius GUI's and I kept it in the upper right corner of my desktop.

What I monitored made it less than half the length of this one.

I have to admit... it is pretty slick. Thanks for the share; it is one I have not heard of before.
