Connecting official RPi touchscreen display and HDMI at same time

Hi. I currently have an official RPi touch screen display (soldered on using the instructions here: https://learn.adafruit.com/7-portable-raspberry-pi-multitouch-tablet) and I would like to connect it to my HDMI TV at the same time; however, the HDMI screen is blank if I do connect a cable to the HDMI port on the Pi.

I tried forcing the settings in the /boot/config.txt file, but it’s not working. Is there anything else I can try? Currently running 15.10.

Have you used the monitor tool in Control Center and looked for additional monitors? (Detect monitors):

Yes. All I see is the 800x400 Display that is connected to my Pi. No other displays.
