Constant requests to "daisy.ubuntu.com"

Does anyone know how to either disable tracking/diagnostics on Mate 17.4, or fix whatever process is continually sending DNS requests for daisy.ubuntu.com? Every minute or so about 10 requests are sent. I’m trying to collect some DNS statistics but this isn’t helping!

The standard Ubuntu has the option to disable the tracking (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AutomaticConnections) which would presumably fix the DNS spam. There is a fairly lengthy thread on the Ubuntu mailing list about the dns spam but with apparently no resolution.

If anyone has any ideas it’d be great thanks!

Try the suggestion at the end of that bug report (removing whoopsie).

That’s fixed it, many thanks!

I presumed due to the age of the bug it’d been fixed on more recent releases and I had a different problem, seemingly not!

Are there any negative side effects from these constant requests? Shall I deactivate this, too?

Conversely though, I can’t see this causing much issue either when not removing whoopsie.
Unless you’re on a 14k4 modem.
