Using X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".

ERROR: Unable to find any GPUs in the system.

I'm already tired of installing different versions of the driver. Please help me.

I also try bumblebee:

you may have to enable the RTX from the bios menu of the laptop, it seems it is picking the onboard UHD gpu included in your cpu).

I have a stripped-down BIOS, so I can't really change anything there. And it seems that this is not the case, because some time ago everything worked.

So. I have some progress today.
I have updated the drivers to version 550. It wasn't that easy. It turns out that there were still dkms files from an even newer version that had to be deleted manually.
Plus, ubuntu-drivers did not install this version due to some dependency problems, but it was possible to install it through apt.

I also used the sudo prime-select nvidia.
Now the drivers are working. nvidia-xconfig no longer complains about not being able to find the GPU.
And nvidia-smi started working.

But all this requires a reboot, and after it I just get a black screen. Nothing happens.
Sometimes, I manage to open the console using Meta + right arrow, and there I check again that the drivers are working.
I tried to do:
X :0 & export DISPLAY=:0
but in this case the console disappears. I can't open a new console the same way. And I can’t interact in any way.

A couple of times, while continuing to try to open the console via Meta + arrow, an interface with a login window suddenly appeared, but after entering the password, nothing happens and I am prompted to select a user again. At the same time, this situation is extremely unstable. I can't show this every time.
Same thing with prime-select on-demand.
Therefore, you have to do prime-select intel in order to be able to go into the browser and continue looking for a solution.

You don't mention trying a fresh install of the system. You do mention that the system worked as anticipated at one time previously but stopped doing so later on.

I would recommend a fresh install if you haven't done so already.

Well. I ran out of energy and followed the advice.

I installed Kubuntu. It seems that all the problems have been solved. I hope they don't come back. It's a pity that I lost everything I downloaded to disk.

Thanks to everyone who participated for their help.
