Create a "Open With Celluloid" pick

How can I get a "open with Celluloid" for mp4 files?

VLC is very lacking in their handling of mp4 files.

Which is a shame. They used to be the "gold standard " for handling video and audio files.

Go to your file
Left click > open with> other application
Click on use a custom command to open a dialog box
Check Remember this application for (what ever format you are trying to open, (mp4, mp3, ogg or wav) files

Click on browse
file browser will open, navigate to user>bin> celluloid

click on celluloid and it will then set celluloid to open that type of file. i.e. mp4, mp3, ogg or wav

Alternately you can use system>Preferences>Personal>Preferred Applications>Multimedia tab:

multimedia player or video player*, but this could set other files to open with Celluloid you would prefer to open with other applications.*

You should try doing only the step Jim identified with setting you choice using the "Preferred Applications" App.

ONLY IF that doesn't work, yes, the other step Jim identified using Caja's "Open With ..." option will work by giving you an additional menu option for "Open With ...".
