Cryptsetup not working

Hi Ubuntu Mate community !!! i am having issues when i type my security key to encrypt my hard disk,i get this error message : error message: “cryptsetup: cryptsetup failed, bad password or options?”. i do type and re-type my security key correctly ( iguess so )with Uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols from the keyboard & space but doesn’t works (the system says it’s a strong password) then i do change it to normal characters (no lower case, uppercase, etc) doesn’t works neither …any suggestion please ??? i am new to this OS,i did find this online but really dont now what really is a passphrase … http://www.dsm.fordham.edu/cgi-bin/man-cgi.pl?topic=cryptsetup

Hi @Sexybaldguy,

I would follow the advice here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FullDiskEncryptionHowto

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedHome

I cannot really help you much further as I don’t use any encryption of any sort!.
