This community site does have a dark theme when you're logged in. It can be set under your 
Preferences → Interface → Theme (Dark/Light). Best not used with any browser extension that tries forcing dark mode.

This is where might be useful to pick up the system theme or browser theme and set it light or dark based on it. I try to minimize browser extensions.

Note for site Admins:
What I believe @wally333 is suggesting is that the site should auto-detect a User's Browser's preference setting for Light/Dark and auto-adapt in recognition of that setting, instead of forcing users to go to the Preferences/Interface where the drop-down currently only offers Light or Dark.
Instead, I believe the default should be auto-adapt or auto-recognize (3rd choice added at top of that drop-down list).

I agree. I believe the themes need refactoring to work with Discourse's colour palettes in order for the auto detection to work. Added to the to-dos.
