Deb problem in Ubuntu Mate

hi, i have problem when i try to install .deb files, when i click install the window close and nothing.

someone can't help me?

Are you installing the deb with Gdebi?

If you are, are you using Gdebi as an administrator? The reason I ask is because Gdebi, even if you opened it indirectly by double clicking on a deb file, used to automatically bring up the GUI password manager (GKSU) and ask for your password, thus ensuring you were using it in administrator mode. However, GSKU has been dropped by Ubuntu and they have not fully implemented its replacement. Thus, there are several apps not working properly. It's completely ridiculous we should have such a state of affairs. But, there it is.

To test if the above is your problem, do the following:

  1. open a terminal and enter the following command:

sudo gdebi-gtk

  1. It will ask for your password and, after entering it, you will get Gdebi opened in admin mode. From inside Gdebi, navigate to your deb file, then install in the usual way.

If it installs as it should, that was your problem and this is the way you need to use it in future to install debs
