So yeah I went and deleted the right hand top panel, which removed the network icon, volume and Bluetooth control icons. Along with Variety and Dropbox.

How can I get these back? I clicked add to panel but the above apps are not listed.

OK well that didn’t last.
Messing around with the theme in MATE tweak and after looking at Mutiny and going back to Ubuntu MATE the icons reappeared.
Yep, the simplest way to reinstate a deleted panel, with all of its usual applets, is simply to go into Mate Tweak and pick it again. The only issue being you may lose some individual customisations you have made. As for your missing items on the panel. They are all part of the “indicator applet complete” I think. You can find this in the “add to panel” dialog box.
