Desktop Icon text looks broken

Hi,
first of all thank you guys for realizing this amazing desktop! I recently switched from standard Ubuntu (I was using GNOME flashback desktop) to Ubuntu MATE and it feels so much better :relaxed:

However I have trouble with the text under my desktop icons, which looks sort of broken: If a word is too long, the word is randomly cut and its 2nd part appears on the next line:

For example Thunderbird E-Mail is cut into
Thunderbir
d E-Mail

whereas it should be:
Thunderbird
E-Mail

Ideally I’d like to appear line breaks only between 2 words and never inside a single word. Is there any possibility to set MATE up that way?

Hello,

perhaps "Kompakte Anordnung verwenden" is enabled in Caja Settings?

After changing this value you need to relogin.

thank you much for your help! Yep, unchecking the box at “Kompakte Anordnung verwenden” and relogin solved it :smiley:
