Display Manager

Hello, I would like to know which display manager uses mate (LDM,GSM…) ? To be able to modify the theme. I use UBUNTU 17.10 MATE.

And is there a way to change the theme of grub ?? Alas, burg does not work anymore, and grub customizer is very limited ?

THANKS !

Ubuntu-Mate uses the slick greeter, which I believe is a modified LightDM

I observed that. And do you know how to modify it?

You can change the LightDM theme from the control panel.

Just that I know too … unfortunately this option is not available.

But you can enable LightDM by downloading lightdm-settings_1.1.4_all.deb from

http://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/linuxmint/pool/main/l/lightdm-settings/

Good luck Anthony_CHAHAT.

Edit: As for grub themes, look at -

Unfortunately even after installing the package, nothing appears … by tapping this command that must be the good it confirms that I am on lightdm ; “cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager” -> /usr/sbin/lightdm

Reboot Anthony. You then should see a new LightDM settings icon in System, Administration, Login Window.

if you are on the beta 18.04 there has been a recent update that has
installed a lightdm or slick greeter settings, which may be available in
other versions than 18.04 but it is available in 18.04, another similar
tool was installed when they used plain lightdm, however I am not sure that
all of the settings work in the settings tool, but some do, you can change
the theme, but it does nothing as I do not think the slick greeter is
really gtk themed if it is the settings tool does nothing to change it, at
least in my experience

Other than that you would have to find someone more knowledgeable on the
topic

I have customized the login screen using a config file, I can provide more info when I get home if you’re interested. That was the easiest way for what I wanted to do.
