Thinkpad T14s, 21.10, AMD CPU.
When rebooting, or cold-boot, I get a blank screen. No GUI. I am able to use Ctrl-Alt-F1 and open a terminal from which I can type startx and it goes into MATE desktop no problem.
I first started having trouble when I edited the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-trackpoint.conf file to configre the trackpoint to move faster. Turns out I had a syntax error and then X wouldn't start EVEN if I used startx from a terminal. Deleting that file allowed X to start by using startx but it still does not start directly from boot.
What logs can I provide that would help diagnose and fix this problem?
