I’m using Ubuntu MATE and I am having difficulty getting my logitech M570 mouse to install.
Welcome!
Nothing is needed to install a Logitech M570 Trackman Ball, just plug it in and it should work, certainly if any other basic mouse works OK.
If you are trying to install the Logitech driver/app thing, I wouldn't bother with it. I did for 16.04, and did manage to configure it to display the separate mouse battery icon, but it was a lot of work. From 18.04 a right click on the computer battery notification icon will show the Trackman's battery status too.
So only feature that requires Logitech's s/w is to re-pair a new Logitech universal USB thumb thingie with an old mouse device, or vice versa. For that it's probably a whole lot easier to just use a Windoze system!
Did updates this afternoon and it still won’t recognize the mouse.
You may need to get the Unifying Receiver to pair with the M570. The pairing is similar to bluetooth. There is an app for Ubuntu for the Logitech Unifying Receiver: solaar
"Logitech Unifying Receiver peripherals manager for Linux
Solaar is a Linux device manager for Logitech's Unifying Receiver wireless
peripherals. It is able to pair/unpair devices to the receiver, and for
some devices to read battery status."
sudo apt-get solaar
HTH
djb
I've tried solaar. It didn't work.
Solaar identified the 570 in a drop-down. As soon as I clicked on it, my screen froze. I had to remove the USB dongle.
