i am running ubuntu - mate 16.04.3 mate desktop 1.16.2
since firefox crashes i was looking of a new browser i found epiphany gnome web ver 3
it installed and works great on the web
i tried to read an html file and brought up firefox an crashed
how do i change the default browser to epiphany
i looked system > Preferences > personal > preferred application
the web browser was grayed out can not enter new browser
i went to sudo update-alternatives -get-selection
found x-www-browser /usr/bin/epiphany - bowser
and gnome-www-borwser /usr/bin/epiphpany - browser
so why isn’t working?
looked at ~/.config/mineapps.list no browser listed
so i removed firefox sudo apt-get remove firefox
now the html document comes up in edit mode
i guess looking for //W3C//DTD HTML ~~~
