Epson L455 Series Printer Install

Greetings all,

sudo apt-get install printer-driver-escpr

The above Terminal command installed my Epson L455 series printer to my PC running Ubuntu Mate 20.04. Thats with a printer cable.

I didn't include my printer's name in the command.

Firstly I tried installing through the Control Centre but the printer only spat out blank pages.

Hi Bill,

I have an older Epson multi-function printer/scanner. Every now and then I need to download and install a recent driver to make it work correctly. Here's where I look for the driver.

I hope that his helps and is not redundant information for you. Goods luck.

Cheers Craig for the Epson drivers support link.
Installing my Epson printer was one of the last tasks I needed to do after moving from Windows 10. I was prepared to do some configuring with Ubuntu to fully install the printer. Not sure what because I am totally new to the Linux world. Anyway found the command line script, ran it, connected the printer with a cable, and job done.
My printer was quite expensive to buy mainly because of the ink refill reservoirs which has proven to be very cost effective.
With the reasonable cost of printers these days why have the hassle of trying to nurse along old tech.
Thanks again for the help.
