Epson Perfection V600 Photo scannner install flubbed

I found the required driver on the Epson website, downloaded it and ran the installer script in the terminal as instructed. However, I got this:

Err:12 http://ppa.launchpad.net/nvbn-rm/ppa/ubuntu zesty/main i386 Packages
404 Not Found

And my scanner is still not working. What is this file, why is it missing, what can I do now?

I have used this web site in the past to check on compatible scanners, it is http://www.sane-project.org try it and see if it helps,

Hello @zobeid,
From what I’ve checked here, this error refers to a PPA that does not support the current version of the system you are using. Refers to the everpad software (seems outdated). Have you added this repository manually?

To do not present this error you must disable or remove this PPA, so that the installation or even dependent packages can be upgraded successfully.

Solution for the PPA error:

How can I fix a 404 Error when using a PPA or updating my package lists?

or

How can PPAs be removed?

PS: If you need a Linux client alternative to Evernote try: NIXNOTE

Now finally on the issue of installing the driver/software for the operation of your device, try:

  • Try reinstalling, but first resolve the PPA issue first.
  • Uninstall, update your software repositories, and try to perform the installation again.

Maybe this will also help:

I hope it can work

Hallo

If all else fails you might want to consider “VueScan”:

You should be able to check if the software covers your particular scanner before you decide to buy.
Is this the right one?

Good luck!
