Eth0 wol suspend etc

Hi,
So im looking to setup an OS to wol, to do this I need the NIC to stay active when the machine is off. The problem is Ubuntu MATE wont do this, I like Ubuntu MATE alot (telling people to use it all the time, MS forum the lot), I like this website to btw. In regular Ubuntu it calls my NIC Eth0, stays on when the system is off and wol out of the box. But MATE calls it Eth0s2o, I think this might be my problem but I dont know.
I have tried ethtool and acpitool, acpitool wont list it in the PCI numbers, its called 2:00 but not listed in the PCI list.
Ethtool works but wont keep the setting when shutdown.

Anyway am I missing something here, is this a bug? Would just renaming the NIC work? Again its all rosie with reg Ubuntu, Linux Mint. But not MATE.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

see this, it might help?:

Thanks buddy. This was my first port of call, but with no luck. The device would switch off even when being told to stay on and wake with a magic packet. Its specifically MATE that isnt working correctly with WOL or keeping the NIC on in s3. Standard Ubuntu and Mint both work out of the box.
The only difference I can see clearly is in MATE my NIC is called eth0o20 (or close to it) but in Mint and Ubuntu its Eth0. If its the name of the device or difference in the way MATE handles networking im not sure.

Might be a silly question but is Wake On LAN active in BIOS?.
