Fascism in my preferred apps (That's a NO!)

Yes, this topic is meant to be taken lightly while also perhaps be of amusement by the end of reading this.

First off, 24.10 looks very well polished and quite awesome so kudos to all those who made it possible.

Long time ago I have settled the "war" of audio player by settling in for audacious because I suffer from winamp nostalgia.

After upgrading from 24.04 to 24.10 I have just realized that this choice had been replaced under Preferred applications.

Statement 1: Don't touch users' preferred applications on already installed systems.

To push this black eye more audacious was also purged when doing the upgrade to OO.

Statement 2: Shame for getting rid of software that was set as preferred.

I understand that when doing a fresh install that it is probably best to come up with the defaults that the team as suggested in order to have a more pleasant experience.

But when it comes to upgrades, user preferences should be sacred.

Hence, for future distro PLEASE do not assume that I wish to change my preferred applications, let alone uninstall them when they are set as preferred, because this a far fetched expectation that can result in (minor) user frustration.

Thanks for your consideration and looking forward to make the best out of this great upgrade because that is the only negative thing I had to say.

How did you determine that the old audacious software was forward compatible with the newer version?

I've had software removed during upgrade due to incompatibility with the new version. To me, that's expected behavior.

Simply by reinstalling, resetting it up under preferred and using it now flawlessly.

A re-installation will update binaries and dependencies.

Most certainly but in my case I executed the sudo update-manager -d process on a 24.04 system.
