FFMPEG-NVENC support? (Recording)

Hi, I have a curious question and I’m in need of help.
I’ve been looking around to get the NVENC option in OBS and SimpleScreenRecorder but I’m not really sure how and what I’m supposed to do to get it working.
I’ve been trying to find guides and those are really vague ones that aren’t even telling you how to do it properly and the ones on YouTube only show Arch Linux (and doesn’t even tell you how to do it) :confused:

Does anyone have any experience with this, did you manage to do it? If so how, I would love to know!

(NVENC is a Nvidia encoder btw, great for recording!)
I have a GTX 960 and I definitely had that option on Windows by default.

Looks like I’ll have to wait!

Note: ONLY download the version that matches your OS.

The CUDA only has 15.04 and 14.04. I’m out of luck then it seems. :stuck_out_tongue:

i know that this topic is old but found a great build guide to add the codec https://www.sandmage.de/building-ffmpeg-with-nvidia-hardware-encoding/
unfortunatly the v7 of the codec needs registration but it’s worth it
