Is Firefox Quantum, be as good as they claim?
I’m using mate 16.04, is it advisable to change to firefox quantum, if that’s even possible?
I guess it will be included in 18.04?
Would it be better to wait till then?

My word it’s possible to run Firefox Quantum under Ubuntu MATE 16.04 and it’s bloody amazing! It’s so good that I’ve ditched Chrome ad FF Quantum is just better in every aspect.
Thanks bulletdust.
I have to agree, well worth the few minutes it took to upgrade, certainly seems a lot faster.
I just tried it out too. It’s really fast, really really fast, but it doesn’t support some extensions yet.
Haven’t installed it proper, so I’m having 2 firefoxes in my panels. Hoping that Ubuntu Mate will roll out an update sometime in the next month or so.
Thanks Bulletdust.
Quantum is impressively fast.
The speed of FF 57 is quite impressive, yet I wish they had kept the old logo. The color scheme on the new one is incredibly garish and the most ugly one I’ve seen in a long time.
I’ll probably switch to the developer edition until they change that, at least the all-blue logo they use for that one still looks reasonable.
I have gotten 12 crash reports so far.
It’s definitely a beta version.
You wouldn’t happen to be running a Broadwell-U CPU?
There is a known issue with current Firefox versions on those if the microcode is below a certain version.

No, I have an AMD processor.
