Firefox is very slow. I have 8 Gb of RAM and rarely use more than 3 Gb.

There was a command line version that was easier to use, but I forgot the name.

If you enter the command
man -k monitor
the resulting list might show the command you previously used.
As for your problem search for
firefox slow fix
give me the following URL at Mozilla:
At one point, I had a similar issue and did the following:
assign a specific smaller size for max cache storage space, and
(High Risk) use the browser's "about:config" to adjust Firefox parameters to reduce the max count of spawned processes (parallel downloads), because too many will create a high fraction of IP packet collisions, causing greater than necessary repeat transmit of packets during downloads (don't remember how to do this). Maybe someone can point you to the correct parameter for it.

This article at Reddit mentions that the source of the problem might be one of your plugins.
Thanks. It had a size of double what the default should be.
I halved it.
I think you are thinking of top
, htop
, or ntop
.
Side note: You say you have 8 GB of RAM, and yet somehow the System Monitor says you have 6.7 GB. Gosh, where did it all go?? (Integrated graphics eating up 1GB of RAM? I've never heard of such a thing!)
I have an integrated video system. It sucks up some of my RAM.
I do not think I can add a video card.
Integrated Graphics Processor:

I do not know what is worse, "The Google infestation" or the "da blank blank" recapthes
