Firmware-b43-installer unavailable

I went through the Welcome Screen step by step [at last  ] When I clicked on Install Firmware Package this error was produced

Package firmware-b43-installer isn't available

Ran software updater, launched Welcome, same results; syslog entries [beyond my competence level here]

My system appears to be working OK.

Suggestions / ideas ?

Hi Peter,

get em here while they are hot!:

Thanks, I've been looking and found that my wireless is

08:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n [14e4:4353] (rev 01)

It doesn't appear that my card is listed on the linked page. The repository is identified as i386. Maybe my ignorance is showing here ... this is a 64 bit Intel processor with 64 bit UM installed.

multiverse is identified and multiverse in NOT checked on sources

my wireless is working just fine and has been since Ubuntu 12.10 soooo do I need this??

That is an all.deb package and should work for 32 as well as 64 bit!.

What is the following command telling you?:

lshw

I assume just network???

*-network
description: Wireless interface
product: BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n

version: 01
serial: c4:17:fe:47:ee:e3
width: 64 bits
clock: 33MHz
capabilities: bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless
configuration: broadcast=yes driver=wl0 driverversion=6.30.223.248 (r487574) ip=192.168.1.9 latency=0 multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11abg

I think it's telling me what I already knew - my Broadcom wireless is working!

So if I install firmware-b43-installer deb package and it breaks my wireless connectivity will
sudo apt-get purge firmware-b43-installer return wireless to functional?

b43-fwcutter (>= 1:015-9)
Utility for extracting Broadcom 43xx firmware

or since I have BCM43224 it's not goinf to do a thing?

The remedy was really simple - after quite a bit of pre-verification on my part.

1>following @wolfman's link I read on the next page that multiverse was required.
2>opened software sources and enabled multiverse
3>opened welcome and clicked on Install Firmware Package
4>rebooted and all is fine with wifi

I meant to say that there may be dependencies!.
