Flatpak - Not Worth the Hassle

I was initially in serious "like" with Flatpak when I first discovered it, but after using it for a while, I am dissatisfied. For example, I installed PeaZip with Flatpak and added their scipts to my caja/scripts file so they would show up in the context menu... and they did. However, when I tried to use them, they threw an error and said they could not locate PeaZip. I uninstalled it and then installed it manually and everything worked fine.

This is not the first time I have had problems with Flatpak. Sometimes their versions are different. GIMP, for example, I had challenges loading some of the extensions I wanted until I installed it manually.

Anyway, if you do use Flatpak, I would recommend double checking the versions as Flatpak does not always have the latest one and you may not get some of the functionality you were expecting.

When you say installed manually, do you mean install the non-Flatpack "traditional" Debian package ?

Correct. Sorry... still learning the terminology.

All good. Ambiguity is the biggest source of "buggy" recipes.
