General Mate Query

Currently I run laptops with Mint, Ubuntu and Manjaro OSs and all using the Mate desktop. On the Mint and Ubuntu systems I have no problems and everything works fine.

With Manjaro I have a bit of an issue with the battery charge indicator applet in the panel in that he percentage display doesn’t change with use. Going to it’s preferences and changing from Compact View to Expanded View or vice versa restores the value to the current state of charge but then it stays at this value. If I plug or unplug the power supply it will cause the value to update. However if I run Conky this displays a changing value with battery charge/discharge but it does differ by 1-3 % displayed by the applet.

I posted my observation in the Manjaro Mate section but haven’t had any replies. Is this likely to be a Mate problem, a Manjaro problem or the combination of the two?

Thanks.

I had the same problem when I intially cross-graded to MATE from Xubuntu and it drove me nuts trying to work which packages were missing. Querying the battery on the command line worked however. I think the problem is that the metapackages for installing MATE doesn’t include whatever packages/libraries the indicator needs to query and reshresh the status

When I clean installed Ubuntu MATE, the indicator worked as expected so I gave up trying to work out what was specifically missing.

Thanks for that Chris I might just try a fresh install as I hadn’t far into setting it up how I need it.
