Got black desktop and many Caja icons in Window List on MATE Panel after boot - how to fix?

Yesterday I have powered off my main daily-driver laptop running Ubuntu MATE 16.04.6 LTS.
I'm not sure, may be some SFTP file-share was not clearly unmounted...

Then today I switched laptop on and see black desktop with many Caja icons in Window List on MATE Panel after boot:

The Caja itself does not want to open. Running killall caja does not help either.

What else should I try? Why this happen?

Fixed the problem by switching off the session save feature - opened mate-session-properties (System → Personal → Startup Applications, Options, [ ] Automatically remember running applications when logging out ):

session-save-off

and rebooted. Then switched it on again:

session-save-on
